1948 Chevrolet Pickup
A true home built!
Robert purchased the truck for $200 and with a $100
parts truck, built this beauty.
Work began in 1993, with the disassembly and selection of the best parts.

The frame was fully boxed and fitted with a Mustang
II cross member and an 8" Ford rear end. Robert did
all the work himself (being a heavy equipment mechanic helped).
The engine is a Chevrolet 305 (Robert thought he
was buying a 350, but he says the 305 has plenty of power and
gets great gas mileage). It is fitted with all the "go
fast goodies".
|
The stock dash was filled and fitted with Auto
Meter gauges. The interior is wrapped in gray tweed and
uses a 79 Cutless seat. Again, the work was done by Robert
and a friend.

The cab is cooled by Vintage Air and tunes are
supplied by a Kentwood CD player and 100 watt amp.
|
For the wiring Robert used a Ron Francis wiring kit.
The paint used is: PPG Concept, in a light and dark
aqua. The paint was shot by Steve Mason of Bakersfield,
CA over Roberts body work. The graphics and pin
striping were done by Ron Beam of Bakersfield, CA.

Robert worked on his truck for four years. The initial
investment of $200 and hard work has paid off. He has won
22 awards and been photographed for Sport Truck, Classic Truck,
and Custom Classic Truck (soon to be released).
|
Cruisers Note: You see many of this vintage
Chevrolet truck at shows, but to see one of this
quality is a rarity ( especially one which hasn't been
farmed out to various
specialty shops). I can't wait to see Roberts
next project!
